A call for a Senate inquiry http://www.newsmax.com/InsideCover/lieberman-hood-shootings-base/2010/04/16/id/355894

Information is sketchy and developing. Everything now available, however, indicates that Major Hasan's views and oppostion to his country's policy and its actions were known to his chain-of-command. If the reporting is correct, a question is begged. Was politically correct consideration to blame for a lack of intervention?

I dismiss that this was a "tragedy." A tornado or flood is a tragedy. This, by all reporting, was an act of terrorism. Acting in a violent manner to further, advocate or support a view or agenda is the definition.

While I will accept that there was a failing of Major Hasan's superiors to act, I reject any attempt to explain, defend or in any fashion to define him as other than a terrorist. I reject the public breast thumping, hearings, legislation and other activities surely to come .

Some latest information indicates a terrorist link. Enter Hasan in the search block at the following link. http://www.telegraph.co.uk

Intelligence agencies may have known Hasan was trying to establish contact with Yemen Terrorist factions.

Now I find that an anti-2nd Amendment group has found in the loss of my comrades-in-arms a chance to advance their agenda. Scroll down, look left and check the article. Come back here and visit http://www.hcgv.org

What we have here is a round firing squad. CYAWP will begin.

Now we wait and see.

Take a deep breath. I am about to agree with the CINC and the Attorney General. In an observation, above, I said I rejected the public breast thumping I feared was coming. If, as it seems, Major Hasan will be tried by Courts Martial pursuant to the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), no show boating by the politcos is necessary or desired. It has long been my position that if I were guilty, I would prefer to be tried in a civilian court. If I were innocent, I would prefer a Courts Martial. In a while, there will need to be some evaluation to ascertain if the Chain-of-Command dropped the ball. The test of that evaluation will be if it is done properly. Afterwards, without consideration of whose ox is being gored, our representatives should make a calm and non-political evaluation. In the interim, our military installations should not be free hunting areas. A couple, lone, civilian, DOD policemen should not have been the only defense. A couple Officers and NCO's who were on-duty, in uniform, working in the processing center, bearing issued firearms, would have reduced death and injury. The anti-gunners should take no exception with this, unless dissarming the military is also their goal.

It seems other have the same idea on arming our military men and women on their installations http://www.nraila.org/News/Read/InTheNews.aspx?ID=13120

We hear that another terrorist working for, with or through the same fellow with whom Hasan was in contact tried to bring down a loaded aircraft. When will we wake up?

It is always a dangerous thing to do; but, if one can believe the early news reporting, one thing is certain. Sgt Kimberly Munley is a hero who saved lives.

The documentary discussed below finally made the airwaves but not by the outfit who spent tax money to make it. As much as gould be shown was hosted by D. D. Hill - ON THE FOX NEWS CHANNEL!!!

April 25, 2007
The Corporation for Public Broadcasting, a public funded entity, spent taxpayer bucks to have a film made. The documentry, Islam vs Islamists, Voices from the Muslim Center was supposed to be shown on the Public Broadcasting System (PBS), another recepient of public funds. The money is spent and PBS will not air the film. I paid for it; I want to see it! I am going to tell mine; you should tell yours.

The History Channel has just shown one of the best treatments I have seen of the Holy Qur'an, The Prophet and the followers of Islam.

Recently, we hear charges that our military people have "disrespected" the Holy Qur'an. I have accessed and reviewed the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) reportedly used by our troops relative to the Book. After fourteen years serving in several Muslim countries, reading of the Book and having visited Mosque many times, I find the procedure more than acceptable. There is no requirement that the Book be handled with "gloves" by non-believers. There is a cleansing process involving water when one prepares oneself to enter Mosque. One cleans ones feet to the knee, ones hands to the elbow and ones face. I have never visited Mosque at which there was not a water source, however meager, available. We are being suckered because of our lack of understanding and ill will of those who would take advantage of our ignorance.

Of course, this article may express a more realistic view:

Ask Me if I Care About 'Mishandling' of Koran
By Doug Patton
June 6, 2005

First, Newsweek pulled a Dan Rather on us, running a fabricated story just because they wanted it to be true. They told the world that an American guard at the Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, detention center had ripped pages from a prisoner's Koran and flushed it down a toilet. As a result, innocent people died when practitioners of Islam rioted in protest in Afghanistan.

Oops, said Newsweek, it seems we can't back up our story. Oh well, it's probably true; we just can't prove it. (Isn't it convenient for Newsweek that the media now have "Deep Throat" to talk about so they can revel in their glory days and divert our attention from their criminal negligence.)

The lie heard round the world about the flushed Koran has caused convulsions in the Bush Administration and forced the Pentagon to launch an investigation of unfounded allegations contained in an unsubstantiated story. The results of said investigation are now in, and it seems there are at least five incidents of "mishandling" of the Koran at Gitmo.

Well, guess what? I don't care!

Are we fighting a war on terror or aren't we? Was it or was it not started by Islamic people who brought it to our shores on September 11, 2001? Were people from all over the world, mostly Americans, not brutally murdered that day, in downtown Manhattan, across the Potomac from our nation's capitol and in a field in Pennsylvania? Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning death that day, or didn't they?

And I'm supposed to care that a copy of the Koran was "desecrated" when an overworked American soldier kicked it or got it wet? Well, I don't. I don't care at all.

I'll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents for incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11.

I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring about the Holy Bible, the mere possession of which is a crime in Saudi Arabia.

I'll care when Abu Musab al-Zarqawi tells the world he is sorry for hacking off Nick Berg's head while Berg screamed through his gurgling, slashed throat.

I'll care when the cowardly so-called "insurgents" in Iraq come out and fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in mosques.

I'll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide bombs.

I'll care when the American media stops pretending that their First Amendment liberties are somehow derived from international law instead of the United States Constitution's Bill of Rights.

I'll care when Clinton-appointed judges stop ordering my government to release photos of the abuses at Abu Ghraib, which are sure to set off the Islamic extremists just as Newsweek's lies did a few weeks ago.

In the meantime, when I hear a story about a brave marine roughing up an Iraqi terrorist to obtain information, know this: I don't care.

When I see a fuzzy photo of a pile of naked Iraqi prisoners who have been humiliated in what amounts to a college hazing incident, rest assured that I don't care.

When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take it to the bank that I don't care.

When I hear that a prisoner, who was issued a Koran paid for by my tax dollars, is complaining that his holy book is being "mishandled," you can absolutely believe in your heart of hearts that I don't care.

And oh, by the way, I've noticed that sometimes it's spelled "Koran" and other times "Quran." Well, Jimmy Crack Corn and -- you guessed it -- I don't care!

It is interesting to note the pull and push of the diplomats, talking heads, has-beens and wannabes who style themselves and are styled as experts on the news shows. I recollect many years ago an Air Force Warrant Officer who had more time-in-grade than I had in the world at the time defined expert for me, "ex is a has-been and a spurt is a drip under pressure."

At this time in our history, let us stop mewling around. Islam as dictated by The Holy Qur'an is not a "peaceful religion", no more than is that described in the Old Testament. We have to accept, however, that folks who follow the Judiac tradition did not bring down the Towers. While all Muslims are not terrorists, all, international, terrorists in the last several decades have been Muslims. All "civilized" people cringe when hearing about, and seeing, heads being sawed off and say the act was done by "radical Islamists." The Holy Qur'an, Surah Muhammad, 47-4, gives guidance on the relieving of heads:

So! When you meet in battle those who disbelieve strike off their heads.
After you have bound them fast in fetters, then, afterwards, either
by way of grace or by ransom. until war lays down its weapons.
Such is. Indeed if Allah pleased He could have punished them.
But so that He may reveal your worth at the hands of one another.
As of those who are slain in the cause of Allah He will never let their works go vain.

I find now as I watch the news and I found during 14 years of living and travelling in the Near East, most Muslims have never read the Qur'an for themselves. One sees them at prayer holding their hands as if they are holding the Book. Too many acquire their knowledge of the Prophet Mohhamed's (Peace be Upon Him) teachings, because they cannot read, from those whom may well have positioned themselves as Partners with Allah for whatever advantage or aggrandizement they seek. The Prophet warned, adamantly, against accepting any partners with G-d.

I first read the Koran (here the Turkish spelling) under the tutelage of a Sunni Moslem who was my interpreter and friend in Adana, Turkey (1964-1967). Once again while serving in Ankara, Turkey (1969-1972) and just after September 11, 2001.

Those who forget history are bound to repeat it. Islam came out of the desert and vanquished decadent societies. Hitler rose to power and killed millions because appeasers thought left alone he would not hurt them. Stalin killed even more millions because of the same lack of will. Muslims who can read the Koran, know that much of it takes from and refers to the Old Testament or the First Books which form the basis of the Jewish relegion. Those who use faith, of any discription, to justify the killing of innocents or to advance a political agenda must to be condemend.
