On May 23, 2006, The Senate Intelligence Committee voted to send General
Hayden's nomination to the full Senate for confirmation. Senator Bayh joined
Senators Wyden and Fiengold in voting against. Bayh was quoted by the indianapolis star as saying he was objecting to the Bush administration's "unwillingness
to ensure both our physical security and our civil liberties." An
interesting position since the Star ran an article May 19, 2006, headlined, "Bayh expresses support for
wiretapping." [Bayh has voted for no nominee of the current administration
above the federal court trial level.]
