December 4, 2006 - Bolton is gone. What may be next?
In January 2007, the Democrats will be in control of the Senate. This guy
is in their cross-hairs.
August 1, 2005 - The President made a recess appointment of John Bolton.
When you win the election, you get to appoint your own team!
After many months and only days after an agreement between 14 Republican
and Democrat Senators that the fillibuster would only be used in extra-
ordinary circumstance, and a claim by all the usual suspects that this
was not a fillibuster, a cloture vote was held on May 26, 2005, to bring
Bolton's nomination to a vote. Senator Lugar voted for and Senator Bayh
voted against. The non-fhillibuster continues. Bolton's sin seems to be
that he is too tough.
On June 20, 2005, a second vote to end the fillibuster the Dems said they
were not conducting failed on a vote of 54 - Yea; 38 - Nay; 8 - Not Voting.
Some voted as follows:
Lugar - Yea
Bayh - Nay
Kerry - AWOL
Kennedy - Nay
Clinton - Nay
