Representatives Respond
December 5, 2005
The legislative session will begin and you faithful servent will ask some
repressntatives to update their positions. He will make clear that their
responses will appear here. Get involved or get poor!
Your faithful webmaster corresponded with our state representatives, Senator
Billie Breaux, Representative John Day and Representative Brian Bosma,
Speaker of the House. Taken in aggregate, the responses indicate that the
Indiana legislature will take up the question of eminent domain in the
next session. None really indicated whether he or she was against the taking
of property from one private owner to give to another private entity. We
voters must make up their minds.
Speaker Bosma advised that eminent domain was addressed during the 2005
session. House Bill 1065, now public law 173, established a study committee
and, hopefully, recommendations would be available for the 2006 session.
Representative Day says he has been told that Indiana laws are more strict
than had been those of Connecticut. He advised that there will be a public
hearing on August 10th, 1:00PM, in the Indiana Government South at the
Auditorium.
Senator Breaux also related that a study was underway and the matter would
be addressed in the 2006 session.
